Pedro: Barca can do great things

Pedro Rodriguez believes Luis Enrique will be a success at Barcelona but admits he wants to play in the big games this season.

The winger was left out of the side at times by Enrique’s predecessor, Tata Martino, and Pedro told the Press his aim to get be named for the season’s crucial fixtures.

“I would like to be in the big games but these are decisions of the Coach we must comply with,” AS reports Pedro as saying.

“We can accomplish great things. We have the right conditions.

“There’s been lots talked about. I spoke with Andoni Zubizarreta and the club. I knew Enrique was coming and I already knew him and the constraints of staying at Barca.

“I’ve not had a conversation with the Coach. I’m happy to stay here. I didn’t hesitate and this is a great project.

“For me nothing has changed and I continue with the same idea. Enrique works well, intense and with strong belief and the best possible. Hopefully it’s a great year here.”

Pedro added that if he’s asked to change his position – to right-back, possibly – he will, but insists he’s better off further forward.

He also touched on two transfers – the arrival of Luis Suarez and the departure of Cesc Fabregas.

“[Suarez’s] punishment seems excessive but we need to focus on other things,” he said.

“New people are welcomed with open arms. Everyone wants to do the best and provide entertainment.

“Cesc is one of the best midfielders in the world. I got on very well with him and he gave us many assists. As a teammate he is very good.

“Chelsea have made great additions and will be a very tough opponent to beat.”
