Miranda: Atleti have no fear

Miranda believes Atletico Madrid will be strong again this season and insists they don’t fear any opponent.

The champions are currently in Mexico for a pre-season friendly and Miranda has said that while a number of players have left, the backbone of the team remains strong.

“There are quality players in the team and we have to play and give everything,” AS reports the centre-back telling a Press conference.

“We don’t fear anyone and I believe that we will be very strong again this season.

“The best virtue last year was that we had a block. For three years we played together.

“Several players have left but we’ve signed five players of quality and we’re at a very high level.

“Last season was brilliant. It will be very hard to go back to that level but we will fight to make it a perfect year.”

Thibaut Courtois is one of the players who has left, returning to Chelsea after his loan expired, but Miranda believes the two goalkeepers signed can cover the Belgium international’s absence.

“Courtois is a great goalkeeper but we signed Miguel Moya and Jan Oblak who are two quality goalkeepers. I’m sure we’ll keep a lot of clean sheets,” he continued.
