Rakitic: Everything’s faster at Barca

Ivan Rakitic has discussed the differences in playing for Sevilla and Barcelona and promised to be at his best however he is fielded.

Rakitic and his new Barca teammates are training in England and while the Croatia midfielder believes there are similarities with his old club, he admits Barca is a step up in some ways.

“The football is the same as in Seville but here everything goes faster,” Mundo Deportivo reports the former Sevilla captain as saying.

“From the first day we’re working hard. The most important thing is to be stronger. The details come later.”

Rakitic added that he has no preference to how he is used by Coach Luis Enrique, insisting his main aim is to help his team.

“Last year I started as a pivot, ended as the midfield playmaker and played half the games virtually on my own,” he recalled.

“I’m ready to give everything in every position. Overall I enjoy where I’m best for the team, pivot, wide, forward…where the team needs me is where I enjoy it more.”

Rakitic added that he is hoping for a successful season, believing Barca have a duty to aim high.

“We want to win it all. I don’t know you can say we have an obligation to win everything, but you want to win every day,” he went on.

“No matter if you have new players, being a big club you have to win it all. Our obligation is to give everything on the field.

“I promise we will continue the work we’re doing. The fans will enjoy it. I don’t like losing anywhere.”
