Pepe: Ancelotti demands a lot

Pepe has revealed Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti asks a lot of the players, but understands why.

Madrid are currently on tour in the United States but face Sevilla in the European Super Cup on August 12, with Pepe acknowledging the importance of the fixture.

“The truth is the Coach demands a lot of us,” Marca reports the Portugal international as saying.

“We’re here to pick up the pace. We will be ready for the Super Cup. It’s a trophy and we have a responsibility to everyone. We want to win it.

“Madrid, on the pitch, always has to win. We know that we have to go game by game and each game is very difficult, but we have to prove ourselves on the field.”

Pepe also gave his thoughts on a couple of his teammates – Gareth Bale, who has started the summer in good form, and Cristiano Ronaldo, who has joined up with the squad.

“Gareth’s had two weeks training and he looks great. He’s got incredible ability and will be very important this year,” Pepe continued.

“Cristiano had time to relax and unwind with his family. He’s well and I think he’ll be at his best.”

On the subject of summer signing James Rodriguez, Pepe welcomed the signing, saying he has admired the Colombia international since seeing him at Porto, Pepe’s old club.

“He’s a very talented player. I saw him when he played at Porto and he has a very good left foot,” Pepe added.

“It’s amazing that Madrid have signed such a great player.”
