Alves available at cut price – report

Dani Alves could be allowed to leave Barcelona in a deal similar to the one that took David Villa to Atletico Madrid.

Villa left La Blaugrana for Los Rojiblancos last summer, spending a year at Atletico and winning the title.

Mundo Deportivo recalls he was sold for an initial €2.1m as Barca wanted the forward’s wages off the books to free space for the cost of signing Neymar.

Alves has a year remaining on his highly-paid Barca contract and MD suggest Barca will look to do similar if they can’t find a buyer, although it may not prove popular with supporters.

Barca had hoped to send Alves to Paris Saint-Germain as part of the deal to sign Marquinhos but that’s no longer considered an option.

The futures of Alex Song and Ibrahim Afellay are also unclear, although neither appear to have any prospects at Camp Nou, but Song in particular couldn’t be given a Villa-style move as he only arrived two years ago and Barca don’t want to take a big loss on their €19m outlay.
