Carvajal on Kroos, James & Bale

Dani Carvajal has welcomed the signings of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez and backed Gareth Bale to reach new heights.

Carvajal also touched on the chances of Madrid succeeding in all six competitions in which they will compete in the upcoming season.

“Kroos is a fantastic player. He made me suffer a lot in the Bundesliga and the Champions League semi-final and will bring us a lot in midfield,” the right-back continued.

“James is a great player who will bring us many things.

“I think Gareth had a fantastic year. He’s in fantastic form and we know each other a little better.”

Carvajal played closely with Bale on the right wing, competing with Alvaro Arbeloa for the right-back spot, and said he doesn’t take for granted his place in the side.

“I don’t expect to start. The alteration with Arbeloa was good for the team and the two of us want the maximum minutes to play,” he added.

“It costs a lot to be in Madrid, but I’ll try to be even better this year.”

Carvajal was speaking from Madrid’s tour of the United States where the squad has been joined by a number of young players.

The cantera product encouraged the youngsters to knuckle down, having once been in their position.

“You have to work and nothing else. That’s the basis of success and the values instilled at this club,” he stressed.

“Then you must seize your moment and the opportunities you’re given. Quite recently I was in their situation and I have a huge enthusiasm for them.”
