Jose Mourinho has given his reasons for signing Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid, explaining the transfer gives him options in defence.
Mourinho also praised the Brazilian for his potential to help settle the Chelsea defence, according to AS.
“After the signing of Cesc Fabregas, we needed a good left-back,” the former Real Madrid Coach said.
“I think Filipe will give us a lot of stability and new alternatives, since I can player Cesar Azpilicueta at right-back and move Branislav Ivanovic to his central position.
“That was our goal and all I needed.”
Filipe was the second Atletico player to swap Vicente Calderon for Stamford Bridge, following Diego Costa, who Mourinho expects to do well in the Premier League.
