Gerard Pique has backed Jeremy Mathieu to do well at Barcelona after his €20m move from Valencia.
The French centre-back completed his switch from Mestalla to Camp Nou earlier this week, and the Spain international has insisted that 30-year-old will be a success.
“We needed to fill that position,” he told reporters.
“Whenever Mathieu has played for Valencia in that position he has always done well and I'm delighted with his move.”
