Andres Iniesta believes Barcelona have done good business in signing Luis Suarez, who he rates as one of the best forwards in the world.
Barca signed Suarez from Liverpool despite the Uruguay international being banned from all football for four months after biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup.
Suarez is appealing the sanction at the Court of Arbitration for Sport but as it stands, he won’t be able to play for his new club until late October, in the first Clasico of the season at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu.
“Today [Suarez] is one of the best strikers in the world and will bring that ambition of scoring goals and the mobility of a midfielder that’s fundamental to him as a player,” Sport reports Iniesta as saying.
“He is one of the very best signings.
“The suspension is a thorny issue. I’m not sure whether to speak in favour or not of the case, so I will refrain from talking about it as I could do harm.
“It’s an issue that surrounds the club and hopefully for the good of the player everything is resolved quickly and the penalty is reduced.”
Iniesta has also touched on the appointment as Coach of Luis Enrique, welcoming his former teammate to the bench, and Xavi Hernandez’s decision to stay at Barca.
