La Real to play Aberdeen

Real Sociedad will get their Europa League campaign underway against Scottish side Aberdeen.

The Dons beat Dutch outfit Groningen in last night’s second-qualifying round and will travel to Anoeta next Thursday for the first leg of the third-qualifying stage.

Aberdeen’s Pittodrie ground will host the return leg on August 7 after an Adam Rooney penalty and a Niall McGinn effort secured victory.

Maikel Kieftenbeld scored for Groningen but the home side bowed out after a goalless draw in Scotland.

Derek McInnes’ side qualified for the Europa League after finishing third in last season’s SPFL.
