Ancelotti: La Decima was the start

Carlo Ancelotti has said Real Madrid’s Champions League success was the start of a cycle of success, not the end.

Ancelotti has spoken at a Press conference to preview Madrid’s tour of the United States and reflected on a number of issues, including the candidates to be Madrid’s goalkeeper, the future of Angel Di Maria and Madrid’s transfer window.

“Di Maria is a Madrid player and it’s clear with the arrival of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez there is more competition,” Marca reports Ancelotti as saying.

“But all big clubs have competition and that gives energy to the team. Last year we had problems at the end of the season with injuries and replacements that were not very good so with these two players we can reach the end of the season without problems.

“Madrid always tries to have players of better quality with more in the future. The club has signed one of the World Cup’s best players [James], very young, and needs these players for the future, not only for the present.”

When asked about his ambitions for the coming season, Ancelotti confirmed he wants to build on the success of the previous campaign.

“La Decima was a very important result for us. I think it’s the beginning of the cycle,” he added.

“We have the desire to continue winning trophies, we have more competitions and a more competitive squad. We’re very excited.”
