Ancelotti: I’ll decide Madrid goalkeeper

Carlo Ancelotti has insisted he will settle who takes the gloves for Real Madrid – Diego Lopez, Iker Casillas or Keylor Navas.

Ancelotti has spoken at a Press conference to preview Madrid’s involvement in a pre-season tournament in the United States and touched on a wide range of subjects.

He offered his thoughts on the signing of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, the future of Angel Di Maria and the competition for places in goal and throughout the team.

“The club is doing a great job and have signed two very important players who will improve the squad and we have a very competitive group,” Marca reports Ancelotti as saying.

“James and Kroos can play in different positions. They’re not fixed in one place.

“We don’t need a right-back. It’s a position we have well covered with Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Arbeloa.

“Keylor Navas isn’t a Madrid player. We have three goalkeepers here [Iker Casillas, Diego Lopez and Jesus Fernandez]. Let’s see. We’re in pre-season and Iker only just arrived, he began training today.

“In goal is not a problem. I understand last year there were many debates between the Press, but it’s not for me. I’ll decide at the beginning of the season who plays in goal.

“I’ve not thought if I’m going to rotate. I have time to think about that. The first official game is August 12. This year Iker starts at the same level as the others I can finally take a decision as to who is the goalkeeper, like last year.”
