Rodrigo outlines Valencia aims

Rodrigo Moreno has spoken of his happiness at completing a move to Valencia from Benfica and outlined his aspirations.

AS reports that Rodrigo has joined Los Che on a season-long loan and is due to travel to Peru to meet up with his teammates, who yesterday left for their South American tour.

“I am very happy to be here and represent the club. I want to return Valencia to where it belongs,” he said.

Rodrigo added that the terms of his move have not been straightforward but he is looking forward to getting back to football, and praised prospective Valencia owner Peter Lim, the driving force behind the transfer, and new Coach Nuno.

“Due to circumstances beyond me and Valencia it’s a bit complicated. I want to be with and train with my teammates and start to integrate,” he continued.

“If a person [Lim] who has not yet finalised buying the club makes certain bets as Andre Gomes and Nico Otamendi [who have also joined], the commitment is clear.

“I come with the hope of returning Valencia to where it belongs. Football goes in cycles. 10 years ago there was a spectacular one with the League and Champions League final.

“Nuno is a highly respected Coach in Portugal. Last year he got good results with a small team.

“His teams are very organised, have a lot of possession of the ball and have great intensity in their game.”

Rodrigo also revealed he could have returned to Spain in January but held out for a summer move to Mestalla.

“I’ve had other offers since January but I intended to return to Spain with a great club like Valencia,” he confirmed.
