Despite earlier reports that Xavi could join New York City FC, there are new rumours this afternoon the midfielder could in fact stay at Barcelona.
The veteran was thought to be on his way to Al-Arabi in the Middle East earlier this summer, but when that deal fell through, was linked with a switch to the MLS.
However, several outlets, including Goal.com, claim that the Blaugrana have persuaded the 34-year-old to stay at Camp Nou for at least another season.
It is suggested that talks with new Coach Luis Enrique and President Josep Maria Bartomeu have gone well, and will see Xavi remain with the club.
