Jeremy Mathieu is not good enough to play for Barcelona, former Blaugrana defender Rafael Marquez believes.
The French defender looks set to leave Valencia and sign for the Catalan outfit this week, in a deal thought to be worth around €20m.
But the Mexico international, who played at Camp Nou between 2003 and 2010, has claimed that the 30-year-old just isn’t a Barca player.
“I don't think he has the profile to play for Barcelona and even less so for this price,” he told RAC1.
“Hopefully they'll think well about this and if they're going to splash out like that, it's for someone who is actually worthwhile.”
