More will be known about the future of Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez over the next few days.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Xavi is due back in training on Thursday and although he has said he wants to leave Camp Nou, his next destination is unknown.
There’s a chance that Xavi could stay at Barca under Luis Enrique, who hasn’t closed the door on the veteran, but a move to Qatar or the United States is Xavi’s preference.
However, the MLS clubs in the frame – New York City and New York Red Bulls – aren’t offering Xavi a salary comparable to that he’s due from Barca, and Barca are so far unwilling to make up the difference.
Offers from Qatar haven’t really materialised either, but Xavi’s future will be closer to settled this week.
