Negredo in injury scare

Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo may have fractured his foot in a pre-season friendly, reports in Spain say.

Marca claim that Negredo is facing between two and three months on the sidelines after fracturing the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.

The injury came in City’s win over Scottish side Hearts, with the former Sevilla striker limping out of the match, to be replaced by John Guidetti.

Negredo is expected to miss City’s tour of the United States and Marca add the injury means there’s no chance Real Madrid will look to the former Castilla centre-forward as a replacement for Alvaro Morata.

Morata moved to Juventus over the weekend and Negredo was mentioned as a potential candidate to come to Santiago Bernabeu, but should his injury be confirmed as a fractured foot, Los Blancos will have to look elsewhere.
