Filipe delighted with Chelsea switch

Filipe Luis has spoken of his happiness at completing his move from Atletico Madrid to Premier League side Chelsea.

The left-back becomes the second Atletico player to sign in at Stamford Bridge, following on from striker Diego Costa, while Thibaut Courtois has also returned to the Blues after three years on loan at Vicente Calderon.

Filipe told the official Chelsea website that he is pleased to have his future decided after the move was delayed for a couple of weeks.

“It feels great, it’s been a long month of negotiations and it’s been a tough time for me but now everything’s finalised I’m very pleased,” he said.

“I really want to wear the shirt and be a Chelsea player. I can’t wait to play at Stamford Bridge and see the fans for the first time.

“I’m really happy, I just want to give my best for the team and, of course, hopefully win some trophies.

“Obviously I’ve spoken to Diego Costa but now I can’t wait to meet the rest of the squad.”

Filipe added that he hopes to top last season with Atletico – winning the title and reaching the Champions League final – in the coming campaign with his new club.

“Last season was brilliant but I’ve come here to do exactly the same. I want to go one better in the Champions League and, in terms of the Premier League, I want the trophy badly,” he said.

“Chelsea is the best club for me to do that. We have the best Coach and an amazing squad, we have some brilliant players and I hope the supporters will see the Premier League trophy at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.”
