The likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been named on UEFA’s 10-man Player of the Year shortlist.
Messi and Ronaldo are joined by Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria and Diego Costa, now at Chelsea but recognised for his form with Atletico Madrid.
Barca new boy Luis Suarez is also included after a stellar season at Liverpool, while Madrid target James Rodriguez is named as well.
They are joined by Bayern Munich quartet Thomas Muller Philipp Lahm, Arjen Robben and Manuel Neuer.
The award is decided by a panel of journalists and the 10 have been narrowed down from an initial list that had the member of the panel name their five best players in 2013-14.
Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Neymar, Thibaut Courtois, Diego Godin, Koke, Karim Benzema, Javier Mascherano, Ivan Rakitic and Arda Turan all received recognition.
A second round of voting will whittle down the 10 to a final three, with the winner announced at the Champions League group stage draw next month.
