Del Bosque staying for 2016

Vicente Del Bosque is to remain Spain Coach for the Euro 2016 qualifiers despite La Roja’s poor showing at this summer’s World Cup.

AS reports that del Bosque has come to a decision after speaking with his bosses at the RFEF, and thanked the federation for their support in the fall-out from the tournament.

“I’ve been in contact with the federation in this time of reflection and over the past six years there have been two bad games,” Del Bosque said.

“The federation is in a time of strength. They valued my work. We work hard and will continue with our work, as always.

“We are planning the remaining games and we know we will have to make decisions, as I have done before.

“Some have accused us of not knowing how to lose and that bothered me, because I think we accepted the superiority of our rivals.

“It shouldn’t be a drastic revolution. We should follow the same path but with a few tweaks. We can do much better and return to the right path.

“We will try to defend the title at the next tournament.”

Del Bosque also touched on Fernando Hierro’s return to Madrid as assistant to Carlo Ancelotti.

“I’m delighted for him. He has a lot of knowledge and great personal and professional worth. The decision is correct,” he said.
