Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has been linked with a move to Napoli, although his agent has downplayed the gossip.
Reports from Sport Mediaset claimed that Napoli could exploit Toni Kroos’ move to Madrid by tempting Los Blancos into letting go of the playmaker.
Napoli Coach Rafael Benitez worked with Alonso at Liverpool and it was suggested he could exploit their past relationship.
But Inaki Ibanez told EuropaCalcio that there is no truth in the speculation and his client will remain at Santiago Bernabeu.
“I want to deny rumours that there has been any contact with Napoli,” he said.
“They have never been in contact with us. I can assure you that Xabi will remain with Real Madrid.”
