Report: James to Madrid ‘imminent’

James Rodriguez is almost a Real Madrid player, reports in Spain claim, after Monaco accepted an offer of €70m and a player.

AS say that the Ligue 1 club have yielded to James’ desire to move to Santiago Bernabeu and in the next few days the Colombia international sign a five-year deal with wages of €7.5m a year.

The player to move in the other direction has not yet been decided, however. Monaco asked for Pepe and were swiftly rejected, as they were when Fabio Coentrao’s name was brought up. Casemiro is more likely.

James will replace Angel Di Maria in Carlo Ancelotti’s XI, the Argentine pushing to quit the Champions League winners as he doesn’t feel appreciated.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are in line for Di Maria, who is said to favour the latter as they are in the Champions League for the coming season.

PSG will pay €60m and that money will be put towards James’ signing, AS add.
