Tata to Argentina?

Former Barcelona Coach Tata Martino could replace Alejandro Sabella as Coach of the Argentina national team.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Martino, who left Camp Nou at the end of the season, is in like to take over with the World Cup runners-up, with Sabella due to step down.

The appointment was revealed by the Vice-president of the Paraguay Football Association. Paraguay approached Martino to become Coach of their national team and told the Press Martino had turned them down as he is to take the Argentina job.

“Gerardo Martino has already given his word to the AFA [the Argentina Football Association] and will be the technical director,” Federico Acosta told Radio Cardinal.

Acosta added that Martino’s appointment won’t be confirmed until the details of Sabella’s exit are clarified.

Martino would be re-united with Barcelona pair Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano should be confirmed in the post.
