David Beckham has backed Real Madrid’s pursuit of James Rodriguez as he believes the Colombia international is good enough for the club.
Beckham was speaking at an event for sponsors Adidas and was asked about the rumoured approach by his old club for the Monaco forward.
“He has the quality to play for Madrid,” Beckham replied, according to AS.
“He has a lot of talent and personality. [James] has magic in his left leg.
“The game against Brazil was spectacular. He’s become known as one of the great stars in world football.”
AS add that James’ move to Madrid could be completed this week, although the clubs have yet to agree on the transfer fee for the former Porto man.
