Javier Mascherano has spoken of the hurt of losing the World Cup final after Argentina were beaten in extra time by Germany.
Mario Gotze scored in the 113th minute to deliver Germany’s fourth trophy after 90 minutes couldn’t separate the sides.
Mascherano was interviewed immediately after the final whistle and El Laguero reports the Barcelona midfielder as admitting the feeling was raw.
“The pain is immense but we gave everything. I’m sorry for us and the fans, but I’m proud of this team,” he said.
