Bartra backing Argentina

Marc Bartra hopes Barcelona teammates Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi are victorious with Argentina in the World Cup final.

Bartra was asked who he was supporting in tonight’s showpiece and said his loyalties have to lie with the South Americans due to the presence of his club colleagues.

“It will be a hard-fought game. I’ll go for Argentina, for my teammates, Masche and Leo,” Mundo Deportivo reports the centre-back as saying.

“To have two world champions in the locker room would be very good for us. It’s clear that Leo only needs to win the World Cup to be the greatest.

“Mascherano is a leader, and we have seen that with Argentina. At Barca there are a lot of leaders, captains. Masche is very professional, always giving advice, and personally I am happy to have him as a partner.”

Bartra also wished well Alexis Sanchez, who has left Camp Nou for Arsenal.

“I hope it’s good for him. I wish him well and hope that the additions fill the gap left in the team,” he said of the Chilean’s departure.
