WC Golden Ball nominees announced

FIFA have announced the 10 nominees for the Golden Ball, with three Argentines and four Germans making the shortlist.

The recipients for the World Cup’s Player of the Tournament award were confirmed last night by the governing body, with four of those currently plying their trade in La Liga.

Mannschaft quartet Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels, Philipp Lahm and Toni Kroos were amongst the nominees, with Javier Mascherano, Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria for the Albicelestes.

Barcelona’s Neymar was also named, as were Arjen Robben of Netherlands and Colombia’s James Rodriguez.

The winner will be named after the final on Sunday.
