Xavi Hernandez is still likely to leave Barcelona this summer but the midfielder has yet to find a new club.
Marca reports that a move to New York City FC has been complicated by the signing of David Villa and the likely arrival of Frank Lampard.
Xavi has been in contact with the MLS side but Villa and Lampard would take up the club’s designated player budget, making a move for the Spain international more complicated.
There has also been talks with teams in Qatar in the Middle East and a move to Lekhwiya, coached by Michael Laudrup, remains a possibility.
