James next on Madrid list

Real Madrid have identified James Rodriguez as their next signing of the summer, once Toni Kroos is confirmed and Angel Di Maria is sold.

Marca reports that the departure of Alvaro Morata has helped clear space in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, while should Paris Saint-Germain make an enormous offer for Di Maria, as is expected, Monaco’s James would be the Argentine’s replacement.

James is said to want to move to Madrid and Monaco are said to be willing to negotiate, while PSG could pay €60m for Di Maria. Madrid would then use that money and the €22m Juventus are paying for Morata to sign the Colombia international.

Ancelotti would rather Di Maria stayed at Santiago Bernabeu but Di Maria wants to go, feeling undervalued by the club.

James won’t come easily, it’s believed, and Monaco would want a profit of the €45m they paid Porto a year ago. Madrid don’t want to spend as much as €60m, whereas Monaco want €75m.
