Sneijder hates penalty loss

Wesley Sneijder was distraught after the Netherlands lost on penalties to Argentina in the World Cup semi-final.

He told Dutch outlet NOS that spot kicks are part of the game but didn’t disguise how badly he was affected by the outcome.

“This is hard on us. We deserved something more. Maybe we have to decide the game earlier,” the Galatasaray playmaker reflected.

“I think there was only one team that wanted penalties and that was Argentina.

“It really does hurt. But that’s football.

“I have to take part of the responsibility. It can sometimes go wrong. I hate it a lot.”

Sneijder and Ron Vlaar were the two Dutch players to have their efforts saved by Sergio Romero.
