Romero: I was confident

Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero says he was confident he could help his country win the penalty shootout and reach the World Cup final.

The South Americans will play Germany on Sunday after dispatching the Netherlands, Romero saving spot kicks from Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sneijder.

His teammates converted each of their four but speaking after the match, Romero suggested it was something of a lottery.

“This is all to enjoy, for all the people cheering us,” El Laguero reports the Sampdoria goalkeeper as saying.

“Penalties are lucky but I had confidence in myself.

“The boys killed themselves in training and didn’t want to leave the shirt on the field.

“The fans can enjoy the moment, but let’s go step by step.”
