Atletico ‘will do anything’ for Oblak

Atletico Madrid are desperate to sign Benfica goalkeeper Jan Oblak and will do whatever it takes, reports in Spain say.

Marca claim that Oblak is the player identified to replace Thibaut Courtois, who has returned to Chelsea after his third loan spell at Vicente Calderon came to an end.

Atletico are understood to have already had an offer of €16m rejected but haven’t been deterred, instead looking into ways of triggering Oblak’s release clause without getting on Benfica’s bad side.

The clubs have good relations and have done regular business in the past and likely will again this summer, with Joshua Guilavogui expected to go to Portugal.

It’s suggested by Marca that Atleti want Oblak to pay his transfer release clause and force his way out of the club. Atletico are also looking at putting together a package Benfica can accept, with the transfer fee structured to benefit both clubs.
