Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stefano has been hailed by King Felipe VI as one of the greatest players of them all.
Di Stefano passed away on Monday, with his funeral held in Madrid yesterday. AS report there were thousands of people on the streets of Madrid to pay their respects to the Madrid icon.
AS add that King Felipe paid his respects upon arriving in the capital after an official visit in Portugal, met with Madrid President Florentino Perez and signed the book of condolence.
“Di Stefano is a great among greats. I wanted to give him a last farewell,” he said.
“We all cried. He was a one-off figure and made football into an art.
“We recognise in him a loyal and extraordinary person. He was unique, absolutely unique.”
