Deportivo sack Vazquez

Deportivo La Coruna have confirmed that Coach Fernando Vazquez has been sacked despite guiding the club to promotion.

The tactician almost saved the Turcos from relegation when drafted in midway through the 2012-13 season, and got them back into the Primera Division at the first time of asking last campaign.

But after criticising the board for their slowness in the transfer market this summer, the Riazor outfit have revealed that they have dispensed of Vazquez’s services.

“The board have decided to dispense with the services of Fernando Vazquez as first team Coach,” a statement read.

“The board’s lack of confidence has led to the decision as this time – with pre-season yet to begin, we can still remedy this situation and develop an atmosphere of trust that is needed.

“The club want to sincerely thank Fernando Vazquez for all his work in a difficult time.”
