Valencia close to Nuno appointment

Valencia are expected to appoint Portuguese Coach Nuno to replace Juan Antonio Pizzi, who was sacked on Wednesday.

Nuno is said by Super Deporte to be the choice of prospective Valencia owner Peter Lim, with Nuno having already spoken to Los Che sporting director Rufete.

The former Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper was previously in charge of Rio Ave and is understood to have asked for Valencia to sign Felipe Augusto, a Brazilian midfielder with the Portuguese club.

Nuno is said to be involved with agent Jorge Mendes, as is Augusto, the appointment of the Coach to come at the same time as the signing of the midfielder.

Lim is not yet the owner of the club with reports today suggesting there has been yet another delay in the Singaporean businessman completing the transaction after Bankia didn’t offer the necessary guarantees for the deal.

Valencia’s players are due back for pre-season training on July 7 and the intention is to have Nuno in place by then.
