Karim Benzema has re-signed with Real Madrid with an announcement to be made after the World Cup, reports in Spain claim.
AS say that Benzema has agreed terms with Los Blancos but in order to allow the France striker to focus on the task at hand, the deal won’t be publically confirmed until the tournament is over.
Talks began before Benzema left for international duty as his contract was approaching its final year. There’s no mention of how long the renewed deal is for, however.
Madrid signalled their desire to keep Benzema by refusing to include him in offers for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, AS add, while former assistant coach Zinidine Zidane and Coach Carlo Ancelotti were strong proponents of tying down the striker.
France play Germany tomorrow in the World Cup quarter-finals.
