Negredo ‘wants Atletico move’

Alvaro Negredo wants to quit Manchester City for Atletico Madrid but the clubs are well apart in their valuations of the striker.

AS report that Negredo is keen to return to Spain and will snub interest from Tottenham Hotspur to do so, but City want €30m and Atletico’s highest offer so far is €20m.

That’s up from their first approach of €15m but Atletico are reluctant to go much higher, due to the player’s age. Negredo is 29 and Atletico are questioning the wisdom of the deal at City’s desired price.

Atletico are looking for a replacement for Diego Costa, who has joined Chelsea for €38m but Atleti can’t spend the full amount of Negredo – after Celta Vigo, Real Valladolid and Braga have taken their cut, Atletico are left with more like €19m.

City outbid Atletico for Negredo a year ago, when they paid Sevilla €25m for the Spain international, despite Atletico reaching an agreement with Los Rojiblancos.
