Del Bosque: Losing hurts

Vicente Del Bosque has spoken of his disappointment at Spain’s World Cup group stage exit.

Marca reports an interview with the Coach in which he reflected on La Roja’s performances and his future on the bench.

“There are things about which I want to mourn but fortunately I’m not the type,” Del Bosque said.

“I’m an athlete and nothing hurts more than losing. Everyone wished for us to go through, of course. The World Cup is a special competition.

“We must accept criticism because our first two World Cup matches were bad. We weren’t up to standard.

“We played below ourselves but you must give credit to Chile and the Netherlands. They were better, admittedly, it’s ok to admit it and move on.

“I want to relax at home. I’ll speak to the [RFEF] President and the general secretary and I’ve said many times that whatever looks best for Spanish football, if there’s no break I’ll do that.

“You have to watch how things go, how players evolve in their teams. But I haven’t spoken to the players yet.

“In David Villa’s case I know what he has told the newspapers, but nobody has said anything to me.”
