‘Cristiano helped Benzema’

The father of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has spoken of his son’s relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hadif Benzema gave an interview to a Brazilian publication, with his comments reported by Marca.

He said that Benzema and Ronaldo are close, while the France international’s idol is the other, Brazilian, Ronaldo.

“Karim likes Cristiano and that helped a lot during training and in adapting to the club,” the elder Benzema said.

“They arrived at the same time and they’re friends.

“Karim has a Brazilian talent. He never goes without the ball and he wanted to be like Ronaldo. He wanted to imitate his passes and has a similar style.

“Since he was a child he has been gifted with the ball.”

Touching on Benzema’s role in a team, Hadif recalled a major figure from history to make his point.

“Napoleon never fought alone. He led an army,” Hadif said.

“Karim wants to do the same, but always playing for the team.”
