Suarez says yes to Barca – report

Luis Suarez has decided to leave Liverpool this summer and wants to move to Barcelona, reports in Spain have today claimed.

Mundo Deportivo say Suarez wants to move away from Anfield in order to win trophies and sees Barcelona as the place he can do that.

There is also a family factor behind Suarez’s motivation – his wife’s family lives 24km away from Barcelona, in Castelldefels, and Suarez already visits the area regularly.

His agent is Pare Guardiola, brother of Pep, and one of Suarez’s closest friends in football is former Barca midfielder Gabri, who played alongside Suarez at Ajax.

The suggestion is both Pare Guardiola and Gabri have told Suarez what it is like to play for La Blaugrana and Suarez is receptive.

Liverpool’s interest in Alexis Sanchez has also pushed the transfer as Barca believe they can offer the Chile international to the Reds as part-exchange.

Alexis’ inclusion would take the fee for Suarez down by some €30m, although MD warn that Barca aren’t the only club interested in the Uruguay international.

It’s said Real Madrid will do whatever it takes to sign Suarez and if the move to Barcelona doesn’t go through, Suarez will end up at Santiago Bernabeu.

Suarez is understood to be grateful to Liverpool but has come to the belief that if he is to win major trophies at club level, he has to be playing for a Spanish club – and only Barca and Madrid can afford him.
