Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona are close to agreeing a deal to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
It’s said that the Uruguay international’s Liverpool contract, signed in December, contains a release clause of €85m, but that is lowered by €20m if Barcelona or Real Madrid are the buying club.
Liverpool’s interest in Alexis Sanchez is also a factor, with MD suggesting a deal involving both players could be reached.
It’s claimed that Suarez was among the likes of Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and Robin van Persie as the forwards considered by Barca, and should the move go through, he would form a three-pronged attack with Neymar and Lionel Messi.
Suarez yesterday scored twice for his country against England, putting the Three Lions on the brink of a World Cup exit. He had been a doubt for the match after undergoing knee surgery a month ago.
Real Madrid were in the market for Suarez last summer, MD continue, but Florentino Perez eventually chose to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur instead.
