Iniesta: No lack of hunger

Andres Iniesta says a lack of hunger was not the reason for Spain’s shock elimination at the World Cup Group Stage.

Tonight’s defeat to Chile was the defending world champions second in two matches and means they will be among the first teams to depart the tournament in Brazil.

“When things don’t go your way, it’s never because you don’t want to win because we all want to win here,” Iniesta said.

“For me that isn’t the problem we need to look at. We are at the highest high and now we are at the lowest low.

“Everyone should be a leader but we weren’t on top of the situation.

“It feels very cruel for the moment. It’s a very difficult moment. If this team wins something it’s for sporting reasons but we didn’t do it.

“It hurts a lot because the excitement was tremendous.”
