Cazorla: Spain have to take risks

Santi Cazorla has said Spain will be more daring in their next two World Cup group games, admitting their hand has been forced.

Cazorla didn’t get on during the 5-1 defeat against the Netherlands and according to AS, said he was just waiting for the final whistle to put Spain out of their misery.

“The worst part was the last 20 or 25 minutes, seeing the team so broken,” Cazorla said. “I just wanted the match to end.

“We were fine in the first half. Their only shot was from [Wesley] Sneijder and Iker [Casillas] saved it.

“The key moment was David Silva’s chance to make it 2-0. We would speak of a different game then. But they equalised and did a lot of damage.

“Once the match finished the captain spoke. He encouraged us and told us we have a unique opportunity in history. The team is more united than ever.”

Cazorla was asked if he was ready to play against Chile should Vicente Del Bosque turn his way, with changes expected for the match on Wednesday.

“I’m prepared if the Coach calls me. We all want to play. It’s difficult to get in the team but the important thing is we win,” he continued.

“We have to beat Chile. We have no other option. We have to take more risks because we want to win.”

Cazorla was also asked about speculation linking him with a move from Arsenal to Atletico Madrid.

“I won’t think about it until the end of the World Cup. I told my agents that I didn’t say anything to stop the rumours,” he replied.

“I’ve been told it’s a good club by Villa, Koke and Juanfran. And I know Atletico well. I won’t know if there’s anything there until after the World Cup and I don’t want to know.”
