Griezmann happy with France win

Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann was pleased to help France get their World Cup off to a winning start.

Griezmann formed part of Les Bleus’ three-man attack and helped the 1998 World Cup winners to a 3-0 win over Honduras, with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema scoring twice.

Echoing the comments of his Coach Didier Deschamps, Griezmann praised Benzema and spoke of the importance of the victory.

“We are happy. It was a good game and getting the three points was fundamental,” AS reports Griezmann as saying.

“The key to the first game is winning. Now is the time to rest and work for the next match.

“Benzema is a great player and we all know that. Today was his day.”

Griezmann was also asked about Spain’s heavy defeat to the Netherlands and backed La Roja to recover.

“Anything can happen in a World Cup, but Spain has the level to be up there, no one can doubt that,” he said.
