PSG to Madrid: No Verratti sale

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly told Real Madrid that Italy midfielder Marco Verratti will not be sold this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti is said to have wanted to be reunited with his compatriot, having taken Verratti to France during his time at the club.

But PSG see Verratti as an important part of the team and won’t sacrifice him to comply with Financial Fair Play rules, Marca add, with the Ligue 1 champions forced into selling players by UEFA.

The clubs have a good relationship and are always willing to discuss business, but Verratti is by all accounts a non-starter.

With Verratti off the market Madrid could turn to Toni Kroos, the Bayern Munich midfielder who is in a contract dispute with his club.

Kroos’ current deal expires next summer and as such, Madrid could get the Germany international on the cheap as Bayern wouldn’t prefer not to lose him for free in a year’s time.
