Arsenal want Vela back

The President of Real Sociedad has confirmed Arsenal want Carlos Vela back at the club, but the player wants to stay in Spain.

It was confirmed earlier this week that the clubs were in talks regarding the future of the Mexican forward, with the Gunners retaining the rights to his registration.

Jokin Aperribay has said that his club believes Vela’s preference to remain at Anoeta will play a part, but he isn’t sure what the future holds regarding Vela.

“We are lucky Vela wants to stay with us,” AS reports the President as saying. “That’s a strong point for us and we’ll see if we can make it happen, but we’re not close.

“There are no deadlines. We’re in talks and we’ll see if we can conclude them in the best way possible for La Real.

“They have told us they are interested in the player and they want him to return. We’re thinking about it. We’re not close to resolving the deal.”

Aperribay added that the same rings true for Claudio Bravo’s move to Barcelona, although in this case, Bravo does want the move to happen.
