Valencia the only offer for Kouyate

Valencia face competition for the signing of Anderlecht defender Cheikou Kouyate but Los Che are the only club to make a formal offer so far.

Super Deporte claim that Valencia have made a bid of €7.5m, potentially rising higher if a number of objectives – such as Champions League qualification – can be met.

Kouyate is understood to want to quit the Belgian club but scouts from West Ham, Everton, West Brom, Galatasaray and CSKA Moscow are known to have watched the 24-year-old.

His agent, Tedir Bekir, told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad that Valencia’s was the only offer so far but he expected more to come soon.

“Currently there is nothing concrete beyond Valencia’s offer,” Bekir said. “West Ham could bid but so far nothing has happened.”

Bekir also suggested there was interest in the Senegal international from Red Bull Salzburg and that while he is happy with Valencia’s interest, the Premier League is his ultimate ambition.

There is also the possibility that Sevilla will step in and try to trump Valencia for Kouyate’s signature as they look to replace Stephane Mbia.

Mbia is due back at Queens Park Rangers and although he could make his move to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan permanent, it’s not for certain and Kouyate has emerged as a contender to fill the Cameroonian’s boots.

Even if Mbia does join Los Rojiblancos, Sevilla could move for Kouyate in the event Federico Fazio is sold.
