Cesc ‘decides to leave Barca’

Cesc Fabregas has reportedly made up his mind to this summer quit Barcelona and return to the Premier League.

Mundo Deportivo say Fabregas’ agent, Darren Dein, has been in talks with a number of clubs in England and has struck a deal with one of them, although the identity of the club isn’t known.

It’s suggested that Liverpool are the buying party as Mundo Deportivo report there is interest in Fabregas from Brendan Rodgers, although Manchester United and former club Arsenal are both still in the mix.

United’s interest is said to have cooled, however, with Louis van Gaal replacing David Moyes, while Wenger had prioritised a more defensive midfielder, rather than a playmaker such as Fabregas.

Fabregas is described by MD as a victim of Barca’s new cycle, as Barca are willing to cash in on the player to help fund their transfer business for the summer. A fee of €40m has been mooted.

But Fabregas’ wife is also keen on a return to England and it is where the couple’s children have been brought up.

Arsenal retain the right of first refusal on the signing of their old skipper but with Wenger having a set transfer budget and wanting to sign Sven Bender, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, he could pass on the Spain international.
