Barca ‘willing to meet Koke clause’

Barcelona want Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke for next season and are willing to pay more than €60m to get their man.

Marca claim La Blaugrana have identified Koke as the player to breathe new life into their midfield and relieve Xavi Hernandez of his burden of responsibility.

Koke’s contract calls for a €60m release fee, plus tax, but Barca have told the champions that they will meet the clause if need be.

It’s not clear if Koke wants the move to Camp Nou but should the transfer go ahead, the 22-year-old would become the most expensive Spanish player in history.

Fernando Torres currently holds that tag following his €58m move from Liverpool to Chelsea in 2011.
