Madrid resume Suarez interest

Real Madrid are again showing an interest in Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, 12 months after they first approached the Uruguayan.

AS claims that Los Blancos were in contact a year ago with Suarez’s agent Pare Guardiola, brother of Pep, and have now re-opened channels.

The future of Alvaro Morata will be decisive as if the young forward doesn’t renew his deal – which has 12 months to run – then he will be sold, creating room in the squad for Suarez.

AS cites reports in the British Press that put Suarez’s price tag at €60m but it is acknowledged that the Reds’ presence in next year’s Champions League means Madrid will have a harder time prising Suarez away from Anfield.

Suarez desperately wanted out of the club last summer only to be talked into staying and signing a new contract, which pays him €6.5m a year and runs until 2018.

He is currently recovering from knee surgery and it’s not yet known if he will be fully fit in time for the start of the World Cup.

Uruguay play Costa Rica on June 14 in Fortaleza before meeting England five days later in Sao Paolo.
